We are returning to Winona to continue storm damage clean up of the Eleven Point and Between the River sections of the OT beginning this Monday, June 7- Saturday, June 13. Sawyers are needed along with volunteers to assist with swamping. The work to be done is not easy and will also include lopping, brushing and swamping for the sawyers. We will also be watching the weather for higher temperatures and humidity and the safety of our volunteers. Volunteers can sign up for multiple days and please include in the comments what days you will be available to make planning easier.
Based out of the USFS Winona facility, there is camping available in the yard, and very limited beds in the house (first come, first served). Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 procedures, food will not be able to be provided by OTA for volunteers. There are available markets to purchase food it needed. The facilities will include a kitchen, where individuals can cook their own food, and refrigerators. Volunteers need to bring a backpack to carry food and water along with other items while on the trail. Also any camping equipment, personal care items and food for days you are attending.
Covid-19 procedures will be followed, including sanitizing, wearing masks, and social distancing while together. Volunteers may arrive on Sunday afternoon and work days will begin at 8am Monday through Saturday. An informational email will be mailed out to volunteers on Saturday with more information.
